Tony Pendregon and the Q Pwer Race Team End 2006 Season with a Stron Effort in Pomona
POMONA, Calif. (November 13, 2006) - Tony Pedregon and his Q Power Race Team ran well but exited the NHRA Finals after the second round in Nitro Funny Car action at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona (Calif.) this past weekend, the last race of the 2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season. Pedregon qualified ninth in Pomona, and that effort allowed him to retain 5th in the final 2006 point standings.
"We had a pretty good weekend in Pomona," Pedregon stated. "The Q Power team continued to qualify well, and we made it through a couple elimination rounds. Any time you can win a round with how competitive it has been all year in the Funny Car class, it's really an accomplishment. With three wins this season, we feel like we have a really good foundation to build on for 2007. The team will spend the winter assessing how we can improve, and look forward to some good test sessions in January before we head back to California for the Winternationals in early February."
NEXT RACE: This was the last race of the 2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season. The 2007 NHRA season opens with the NHRA Winternationals on February 9-11, 2007, at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona (Calif.).
