Oh brother! Brian Keselowski substitutes for Brad in Phoenix
Avondale, Az. – Brian Keselowski is taking a turn behind the wheel of the #23 Ridley Chevrolet this weekend in the Arizona Travel 200. He will be making his debut on the NASCAR Busch Series while subbing for his brother, Brad Keselowski, who is the regular driver of the car.
Brian Keselowski was 42nd in the final practice at Phoenix International Raceway. He made more than 30 laps in the first practice and rookie practice sessions, but was limited to two laps in the final session and he was not able to make a mock qualifying run.
“I feel pretty good about it,” said Brian Keselowski. “We’ve got a strong car and I know the guys have done a great job getting it ready to race. We should be able to make some noise tomorrow.”
Brian Keselowski is driving so that younger brother Brad can retain his eligibility for the Raybestos Rookie of the Year Award in 2007. To be eligible for the award a driver can not have run in more than seven races in a season. Brad Keselowski has run in six races in 2006 and will compete in the Ford 300 next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“I really excited to be able to help Brad out like this,” said Brian Keselowski. “He’s been doing a great job this year and I know he’s going to be very competitive for the award next season.”
