CLANCY NAMED DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE MARKETING FOR NHRA
GLENDORA, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2006) - Kelly Clancy has been named director
of corporate marketing for the National Hot Rod Association, NHRA Senior
Vice President, Sales and Marketing Gary Darcy announced today.
Clancy joins NHRA with more than 20 years of experience in the marketing
field - including 10 years with California Speedway, where she managed
all media, advertising, sponsor programs, and pre- and post-race
ceremonies as director of advertising and promotions.
"I'm very excited to join the NHRA team and to have the tremendous
opportunity to work with our sponsors, teams, and fans to continue to
grow the ever-expanding popularity of the sport of NHRA Drag Racing,"
Clancy said.
Clancy played an integral role at California Speedway from its 1997
debut and was instrumental in bringing a second NASCAR NEXTEL Series
event to that facility in 2004. While there, she formed relationships
with sponsors such as the Automobile Club of Southern California, among
others, developing and executing media and sponsor promotions as well as
cross-promotional activities.
"Kelly's extensive list of accomplishments shows her dedication to the
cultivation of relationships with sponsors, and the development of key
marketing opportunities," Darcy said. "We welcome her to the team and
look forward to the contributions she will bring."
In addition to her experience with California Speedway, Clancy also
served as account supervisor with Saatchi & Saatchi/LA, overseeing the
Toyota Motorsports account. At the agency, she managed all local,
regional and national level promotions, sponsorship and motorsports
advertising for the account.
Clancy graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Communications from The University of Southern California. She lives in
Chino Hills, Calif.
Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning
body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 23
national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The NHRA
has 80,000 members and 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned sportsman
and bracket racing series' provide competition opportunities for drivers
of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the
NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing
Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series, and the NHRA Street Legal Drags
presented by AAA. The NHRA also offers the O'Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag
Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
