42nd ANNUAL NHRA AUTO CLUB FINALS
AUTO CLUB RACEWAY AT POMONA (CALIF.)
NOVEMBER 9-12, 2006*
*Anderson continues to build for next season
*
POMONA, Calif. (November 7, 2006) -- For Greg Anderson, driver of the KB
Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-sponsored Pontiac GTO and
three-time NHRA POWERade champion, one of many keys to being a winning
driver is being prepared.
At Las Vegas, Anderson unveiled a new Rick Jones-built Pontiac GTO. The
reason is to be prepared for the 2007 season.
Having locked up second in the POWERade point battle, Anderson had
nothing to lose. In fact, the extra two races might mean another
championship for KB Racing LLC and Anderson.
The architect of four consecutive championships for KB Racing LLC, three
for himself from 2003 to 2005 and this year for teammate Jason Line,
Anderson plans to do everything he can to extent the winning trend.
That why the learning curve with the new RJ Pontiac will continue at the
NHRA Auto Club Finals this weekend at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona (Calif.).
"You have to gain an edge on the competition somehow," said Anderson,
"and this is just one small way that we are making sure that we are
ready for next season.
"I could give you a hundred more things that we are working on, but I
don't want to give away the things that we are trying. It's enough to
say that I'm going to do everything in my power to have these Summit
Pontiacs in the hunt to finish one-two again next year.
"I've had pretty good success at Pomona over the last few years and we
hope to continue our winning ways here this weekend and use what we
learn here for a quick start next season."
Anderson has four wins on the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona quarter-mile,
two at the season-opening event (2004 and 2006) and two at the finals
(2003 and 2004).
Qualifying for Anderson and his KB Racing / Summit Racing Equipment
Pontiac GTO begins with one session each on Thursday and Friday
scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and concludes with two additional sessions on
Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Anderson begins his quest for the
Auto Club Finals Top Fuel title on Sunday with eliminations for all
