Reynolds and Reynolds Announces Plans to Sell Its Incadea Dealer Management System Business
DAYTON, Ohio, Nov. 6, 2006 -- The Reynolds and Reynolds Company today announced its intent to sell the assets and operations of its incadea international dealer management system business.
The company has received expressions of interest from parties that are considering acquiring the incadea platform and taking it forward. Reynolds International will continue to support incadea customers pending a transition to a new owner.
Reynolds continues to market and support the platforms it acquired in July from DCS Group PLC (DCS Automotive).
Doug Ventura, executive vice president, Reynolds International, said, "Incadea provides a compelling global platform for OEMs and dealers, which we have seen reflected in its steady adoption during the past three years. However, following our merger last month with Universal Computer Systems, we are focused on a more narrow geographic scope that is being served by a robust portfolio of proven DMS solutions. As a result, incadea is no longer part of Reynolds' strategy in serving our international markets.
"Understandably, the new ownership of the company has a different set of priorities and objectives. The strategic direction we were taking the incadea business, which involved extensive geographic coverage and considerable investment over a long-term time horizon, is not aligned with the new ownership's international strategy," Ventura said.
"We believe that a sale now is best for the incadea community -- those OEMs, dealers, partners and Reynolds associates involved with the platform -- because it will allow incadea to continue moving forward," Ventura said.
Reynolds acquired incadea in 2003.
Reynolds and Universal Computer Systems merged operations effective October 26. The combined company continues to be named The Reynolds and Reynolds Company, with the products and services of both Reynolds and UCS marketed under the Reynolds brand.
