Using SOA to Transform Car Buying and Selling Online
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Oded Noy, chief technology officer for Zag (www.zag.com), will be among the presenters at InfoWorld SOA Executive Forum, to be held Nov. 7-8 in New York.
Noy will share real-world examples of how the ability to tailor, courtesy of SOA, is transforming the application development process for various IT-dependent organizations. He will discuss his own team rapid development of a technology and services platform that extends current online car-buying capabilities and soon will make it possible for consumers to complete the entire auto-buying transaction online. The platform is currently being implemented by Capital One Auto Finance, the nation largest online auto lender, which is rolling out Zag's technology platform for its DriveOne auto-buying program.
When speed, cost-effectiveness and fidelity to the brand are essential, SOA is increasingly the architecture of choice. "Customized" invariably means expensive, labor-intensive and slow off the mark - without any real guarantees of a genuinely successful implementation (read: one that is faithful to the brand).
"Our challenge was to create a scalable platform that would transform the online car shopping and financing experience for consumers - in just six months. SOA enabled us to deploy a complicated, integrated system that performed well and was secure from Day 1, as well as providing an extendable roadmap for future expansion of the platform," said Noy.
Oded Noy is chief technology officer for Zag, an independent technology and services business that is transforming the auto-buying experience with a groundbreaking online platform that extends current online buying capabilities - and soon will make it possible for consumers to complete the entire auto-buying transaction online. Noy was the co-founder and chairman of PATH Reliability, and lead technology architect for CarsDirect.com. He is a member of InfoWorld's CTO Advisory Council.
WHEN: InfoWorld's SOA Executive Forum is Nov. 7-8 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.
Oded Noy joined Zag from PATH Reliability, a provider of application behavior management (ABM) solutions, where he was co-founder and Chief Technical Officer.
