Dealer Magazine Poll Shows Little Support for Gas Tax
Washington DC November 2, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that a poll conducted by Dealer Magazine last week showed few auto retailers support the idea of a gas tax as the best way to keep Americans from a dependence on foreign oil.
A strong majority, 77 percent, say raising the gas tax is a bad idea, while just 23 percent agree with the idea of a gas tax.
The article concluded that as long as dealers and automakers make a larger profit on the sale of light trucks and SUVs, the proposal is likely to remain unpopular among dealers.
