Cascade Engineering Announces Opening of New North Carolina Manufacturing Facility
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Nov. 1, 2006 -- Cascade Engineering today announced the opening of a 110,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Mount Airy, N.C.
The new facility, designed to manufacture injection-molded components for the medium-and heavy-duty truck market, is the product of CK Technologies, a joint venture established in 2002 between Cascade and Midwest-based entrepreneur Timothy Kline. Cascade Chairman and CEO Fred Keller joined Kline and local elected officials earlier today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally dedicate the new facility.
CK Technologies expects the facility, situated on 30 acres in the Piedmont Triad West Corporate Park outside of Winston-Salem, to expand to 165,000 square feet during the next several years, and add to the nearly 40 jobs the joint venture has already created in the region. The Mount Airy site was specifically selected due to its proximity, and will enable just-in-time delivery of large truck components to CK Technology customers in the area.
"At a time when the manufacturing sector continues to contend with enormous challenges, we are pleased to sound a distinctly positive note, creating a facility that will provide our customers with the flexibility in engineering and manufacturing they have come to expect from Cascade and our CK Technologies venture," said Keller.
A leader in the production of injection-molded components for the medium- and heavy-duty truck market, CK Technologies encompasses a wide range of manufacturing technologies, recently adding in-house paint capabilities.
Both Keller and Kline noted that they were impressed with the ability of the region to help facilitate the project. The Mount Airy Board of Commissions, along with the One North Carolina Fund, worked together to support the new facility using local and state programs.
"We are excited to begin our long-term relationship with the Mount Airy community as we continue to expand our business to better serve our core customers," said Timothy Kline, president of CK Technologies. "This facility is a testament to our vision for creating sustainable manufacturing practices that will continue to benefit our nation's communities."
