Could The Mercedes CLK DTM AMG Be Coming To The United States?

Posted by www.eMercedesBenz.com on October 31st, 2006 At 8:30 AM CST

Inside Line is reporting today American residents that have long
coveted the incredibly-seductive CLK DTM AMG may be soon be in luck.
That's because Mario Spitzner, AMG Mercedes director of marketing and
sales/branding, said the company may be willing to federalize the car
should there be enough takers.

"I get a lot of pressure from our best customers to bring it to the
U.S.," Spitzner told Inside Line. "We would maybe do a bigger series
for the U.S. Push us, and it may happen."

If indeed it does happen, the U.S. version will likely be powered by
AMG's new 6.2-Liter V8, as opposed to the supercharged 5.5-Liter
found in the previous cars. As a result, performance would increase
slightly, but on a car that already accelerates from 0-60mph in 3.9
seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 200mph,
there's really not much improvement needed.

We will of course keep you posted if we hear anything new; in the
meantime, head over to Inside Line where you can check out their full
article covering a prospective U.S. release of the Mercedes CLK DTM AMG.
