TOKYO - October 30, 2006: The British Embassy in Japan announced last week that Mr. Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., has been bestowed with an Honorary Knight Commander of the British Empire. The award is one of the highest honors bestowed by Queen Elizabeth to foreign nationals. Holders do not use the title “Sir” but are entitled to have the letters KBE after their name.

Mr. Ghosn is the second person at Nissan to receive the honor. The first person was Takashi Ishihara, who was chairman of Nissan when he received the award in 1992.

“I am deeply honored by this recognition from the United Kingdom. The ties between Nissan and the United Kingdom are deep and stretch back over 50 years. This honor is dedicated to the hard work and achievements of our 5,500 employees and 220 dealers that support the Nissan business in the United Kingdom,” said Mr. Ghosn.
