FINAL QUALIFYING CANCELED, FIELDS SET IN ATCO

 

            ATCO, N.J. - Rain showers combined with high winds
throughout the day forced Atco Raceway and NHRA Officials to cancel
today's racing activity and final qualifying for this weekend's Franklin
Trailers NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

            The fields have been set for all qualifying classes from
Friday's runs and all classes will go into round one of eliminations on
Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m.

            Art Gallant and Bob Tasca III will lead the Top Alcohol
Dragster and Funny Car fields into eliminations as Gallant qualified No.
1 with a 5.336 second, 272.89 mph pass with fellow dragster driver John
Finke in second out of Selkirk, N.Y. with a 5.576 second, 275.62 mph
run.

            Tasca is looking for his second Lucas Oil Divisional win
this year to go along with three national event final round appearances.
The Cranston, R.I., resident qualified his '06 Mustang Funny Car on top
with a 5.645 second run at 255.87 mph. 

            Morganville, N.J., and multi-NHRA National Champion Frank
Manzo sits in second with a pass of 5.713 seconds at 252.61 mph.
