Guy Cosmo And Mazda Wrap-Up The American Le Mans Series Season With A
Solid Performance at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Guy Cosmo and the B-K Motorsports team wrapped up a tough season with
a solid run in the Mazda powered Road & Track / Kumho Tire #8 LMP2
car at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The Salinas California track is
considered the home of Mazda and Mazda racing.
“Laguna was a good run for the B-K Motorsports team,” noted Guy. “As
a team, we had a great performance that we all could be proud of.
Thanks to Kumho and their great tires, our pace was very consistent
through the duration of the race. As well, I really believe our
chassis handling was as good as anyone’s, and our pit stops were
excellent.”
Once again, the Mazda Rotary engine proved to be tough and reliable.
“Our Mazda 3-Rotor again showed reliability,” said Guy. “And that,
along with Jamie and I avoiding all the mayhem on course put us in
close proximity to the 3rd place car. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough
to catch them.”
“Its been a tough season for us this year,” Cosmo acknowledged.
There’s been significant growth in the LMP2 category this season, and
our unfortunate mishap at Lime Rock kept us on the sidelines for four
races. The downtime really set us back and kept us from further
developing our program against the competition. The good news is, B-K
Motorsports and Mazda have continually made strides to improve our
team and we’re making preparations for next season.”
“I really missed competing in the American Le Mans Series for half of
the season,” Guy added. “Our return for the final two races was
uplifting, and makes us all the more excited about our visions for
next year. Winning the 2005 Rookie of the Year title with Jamie was a
great mark in each of our careers. Next year we hope we can add LMP2
Champions to that list.”
“Meanwhile, were happy with our 4th place finish,” concluded Guy.
“And it was fun finishing out the season with our partner, Mazda, at
their spiritual home Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.”
The season finale for the American Le Mans Series has quickly earned
its place has a fan and driver favorite since the race became an
