ZEELAND, Mich., Oct. 26, 2006 -- Gentex Corporation, the leading supplier of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors to the worldwide automotive industry, has announced that it is supplying auto-dimming mirrors for the 2007 Ford Edge.

Ford's new crossover vehicle, the Edge, offers a Gentex interior auto- dimming mirror as standard equipment on the SEL trim level and as part of a convenience group on the SE level. The vehicle will be sold throughout North America beginning this fall.

Gentex auto-dimming mirrors automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer.

"The Ford Edge is the newest crossover vehicle in the Ford lineup and is considered a key model for the 2007 model year," said Gentex Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Enoch Jen. "We continue to see our mirrors being offered in crossover vehicles and we are excited to continue building a closer relationship with Ford."

Founded in 1974, Gentex Corporation (Nasdaq Global Market: GNTX) is an international company that provides high-quality products to the worldwide automotive industry and North American fire protection market. Based in Zeeland, Michigan, the Company develops, manufactures and markets interior and exterior automatic-dimming automotive rearview mirrors that utilize proprietary electrochromic technology to dim in proportion to the amount of headlight glare from trailing vehicle headlamps. Many of the mirrors are sold with advanced electronic features, and approximately 96 percent of the Company's revenues are derived from the sales of auto-dimming mirrors to nearly every major automaker in the world.
