Metaldyne New Castle Receives Centennial Award

NEW CASTLE, Ind., Oct. 25, 2006 -- On Monday, October 16, 2006, the Indiana Historical Society (IHS) recognized Metaldyne New Castle and their predecessors with a Centennial Business Award at their Corporate and Foundation Recognition Dinner. The program provided special recognition to Indiana companies that have been in business in the state for 100 years or more.

Metaldyne purchased the New Castle plant from DaimlerChrysler in 2004, which was one of the original six plants when Walter P. Chrysler formed his corporation in 1925. Before Chrysler, it was a Maxwell Motor Car Assembly plant -- started in 1906.

Along with eight other companies, Metaldyne New Castle's history was read, and Beverly Matthews accepted the framed award on behalf of Metaldyne. Also attending the event from the community were Paul and Rosemary Niles, representing the Maxwell Centennial Committee.

About The Centennial Business Program

The Centennial Business Program seeks to raise awareness among Indiana's citizens of their state's rich business and industrial heritage, and to invite all Indiana businesses to become part of the Society's continuing efforts to preserve that heritage. To date, more than 350 companies statewide have been recognized with Centennial status. For more information about IHS, go to http://www.indianahistory.org/ .
