Edmunds.com Names 2007 Toyota Tundra the Most Significant Vehicle of the Year
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Edmunds.com (http://www.edmunds.com), the premiere resource for automotive consumer information, today named the 2007 Toyota Tundra as its Most Significant Vehicle of the Year.
This accolade is awarded annually to a vehicle that, according to the editors at Edmunds.com, significantly changes the rules of a given segment, creates a new niche or redefines an automaker's image.
"The 2007 Toyota Tundra is going to change the way consumers view the full-size truck segment because this is the first import that will appeal to the heart of the light truck market — contractors, farmers and other commercial users," observed Karl Brauer, editor in chief of Edmunds.com. "The domestic automakers have always dominated this segment, but this truck is going to provide fierce competition because of the broad range of engine sizes, body styles and other equipment."
Runners-up for this accolade were the 2007 Mazda CX-7, 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
Past "Most Significant" award winners include the 2006 Pontiac Solstice, 2005 Chrysler 300, 2004 Nissan Titan, 2003 Nissan 350Z, 2002 Mini Cooper, 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser and 2000 Honda Insight.
