PAVEMENT FOCUSES RESUME SATURDAY AT BLYTHE;
MICHNOWICZ EMERGES WITH 1 POINT DIRT TITLE!
Bobby Michnowicz turned a sixth-place run into a one-point lead after Saturday's 20-lap California Ford Focus Dirt Midget Car Series feature, enough to win the series title after a seesaw battle with a pair of drivers.
Michnowicz finished his title run in conservative fashion after Nic Faas won the race, besting Chris Veach for the top spot. Veach, who entered the race only 17 points behind Michnowicz, closed the gap with a victory in his heat race, but fell one position short of upending Michnowicz from the top spot.
Faas led the final 11 laps after passing Bobby Owens for the point. Jenna Frazier was third, ahead of Thomas Gray and Brett Engstrom. Keith Janca, who led the point standings multiple times throughout the season, finished 16th, and was credited with third in the final point rundown.
Veach won't be idle for long though. He'll try to score a victory this Saturday at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif., as the California Ford Focus Pavement Midget Car Series continues its battle. Tim Skoglund is the point leader over Michael Faccinto and Jace Meier.
