OLIVAREZ AND PAYNE SCORE WINS AT SILVER DOLLAR

REYNOLDS, Ga. - Final eliminations are complete at the Southeast Division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Silver Dollar Raceway. Top Alcohol Dragster pilot, Aaron Olivarez and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver, Jay Payne, finished with big wins in their respective categories.

Aaron Olivarez, of Sandy, Utah, finished on top defeating Ashley Force of Azusa, Calif., in the final run. Olivarez ran 5.495 seconds at 259.51 mph while Force made a final pass of 5.528 seconds at 263.92 mph.

Jay Payne of Claremont, Calif., took home the trophy in Top Alcohol Funny Car defeating Steve Harker of Brisbane, Australia. Payne made a final pass of 5.779 seconds at 251.72 mph. Harker ran a final pass of 5.961 seconds 200.17 mph.

Sal Biondo of Maspeth, N.Y., found the winner's circle in his '93 Beretta, with a final pass of 8.324 seconds at 144.98 mph to defeat Larry Pritchett of Clarkrange, Tenn., who drove a '05 Sunfire. In Super Stock, James Paul of Ft. Worth, Texas, finished on top in his '74 Duster with a time of 11.082 seconds at 117.56 mph. Paul defeated Emory Pierpont of Cartersville, Ga., who ran a pass of 10.439 seconds 126.20 mph.

Dan Fletcher of Churchville, N.Y., finished strong with a win over Tommy Mattingly IV of Louisville, Ky. Fletcher ran 10.623 seconds at 112.65 mph while Mattinbly made a final pass of 12.904 seconds at 100.31 mph. In other categories, Shane Carr of Gallatin, Tenn., defeated Victor Fera Jr., of Merritt Island, Fla., in Super Comp, while Super Gas racer Brina Splingaire, took home a trophy with a final pass of 9.913 seconds at 158.61 mph. Other big winners were Super Street driver Charlie McCulloch of Kennesaw, Ga., driving a '98 Cobra who ran 10.907 seconds at 123.15 mph to defeat Kevin MacNicol of North Port, Fla. In the Top Sportsman category, the top racer was Corey Glidewell of Corinth, Miss., who ran 7.323 seconds at 184.52 mph to defeat Dan Morrow of Bradenton, Fla. In the CSR Top Sportsman Shootout, Ronnie Davis of Commerce, Ga., ran 6.878 seconds at 195.00 mph to defeat Jim Harrington of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.
