Richwine Earns $3,125 in the Inaugural Susquehanna Showdown at SSP

 

Newberrytown, PA (October 21, 2006) - Another action-packed afternoon of racing at the Susquehanna Speedway Park for the second straight week, found Kirby Sites victorious in the 50-lap 3rd Annual Miller's Racing Parts Fall Classic Street Stock main event presented by Insinger Performance Fuels and Salisbury Mechanical Services.  Larry Duvall picked up the 50-lap Four Cylinder championship and Michael Goodwin won the 50-lap Xtreme Stock Car main event.  Paul Kline won the 20-lap ARDC wingless midget feature.

 

In the 50-lap Street Stock feature, Bob Gutshall jumped out to the early lead from his outside front row starting position.  While leading on lap seven, Gutshall retired from the race with mechanical failures and handed the lead over to Paul Morgan.  Morgan lead the next two laps before Kirby Sites took over the top spot.  Sites never looked back and won the $3,000 winner's check over Paul Morgan, Todd Snook Kory Sites and Joe Whitely.

 

Randy Zechman won the B-main over Chad Smith.  Rick Yohn won the C-main.  

 

On Friday night, the heat winners were Bob Scott Jr., Gary Beward, Kirby Sites, Kory Sites and  Brian Hauenstein.  Heat races were presented by Dellinger's Auto Body in Mechanicsburg.

 

In Four Cylinder Stock Car action, pole sitter Larry Duvall lead the first four circuits of the 50-lap feature before giving the lead to Ronnie Garlock.  Garlock led the next 32 laps until Ed Hollenbach gained the lead.  Hollenbach looked strong for the next seven laps, but retired from the race with mechanical problems with 5 laps remaining in the race.  In the meantime, Larry Duvall got back around Garlock for second and regained the lead when Hollenbach left the race.  Duvall won the race and $1,500 for his efforts followed by Austin Kirby, Timothy Burkholder, Ronnie Buck and Dale Kreiser.

Brian Wentzel won the B-main over Dave Edwards.  Ronnie Buck won the C-main.  

On Friday night, the heat winners were Dusty Kirby, Leroy Long, Ed Hollenbach, Dale Kreiser and Dave Leidy.

 

 

In the 50-lap Xtreme Stock Car main event, Michael Goodwin picked up the $500.00 paycheck by leading the final 41 laps to pick up the win.  Larry Hughes challenged Goodwin midway through the race but fell back towards the end but still finished second.  Mark Krone, Terry Norris and Brian Sanders rounded out the top five after third place finisher Brad Mitchell also failed post race technical inspection.   Fourth place finisher Ray Broderick declined post race tech inspection and was disqualified.  

 

In ARDC Midget action, Paul Kline picked up the 20-lap feature win after taking the lead on lap three from Stephanie Stevens.  P.J. Gargulio followed Kline across the line at the checkered.  Andy Martin joined Kline and Gargulio in victory lane by finishing third.  A.J. Ernesto and Tom Hessert finished fourth and fifth.  Heat race winners were Stevens, Kline and Gargulio.

All feature winners on Saturday received a gift certificate for two-(2) complimentary meals per month for the next 12 months from any participating Applebee's Neighborhood Bar & Grille. 

In Friday night's action, Daryl Sipe was victorious in the York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature over Dave Olson and Brian Lefebvre.  George Lucas and Scott Conley rounded out the top five.

 

In the 25-lap Xtreme Stock Car Rookie Rumble, Kevin Armstrong took the lead on lap 13 from Adam Doll.  Tim Hahn and Nate Heindel finished second and third respectively.   Ryan Higgins and Randy Blank rounded out the top five positions.

 

The next event at SSP will be next week with the Candy Bowl II presented by J&K Auto Salvage on Saturday, October 28.  This event will feature the wingless ARDC Midgets, 600cc Micro Sprints, Legends Cars, Lincoln Thundercars, W.O.W. (Women on Wheels) Stocks Cars and the Speedway Auto Sales Mini Vans.  After the event, all teams are encouraged to stay for trick or treating in the pits with all kids in costumes.  All children (12 & under) should be in costumes for the trick or treating after the races.  

Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand area at 12:00 p.m.  Warmups begin at 2:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 3:00 p.m.    

 

Grandstand ticket prices are $12.00 for adults and teens (13 years of age and older) and children (12 & under) are free.  Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a minimum age requirement of 14 years of age.  

 

The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south.
