Shift _ 2 Nissan Tour ''Battle of the Bands'' Competition Turns up the Volume on Local Music

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Music meets the road during the 2006-2007 season with the Shift _ 2 Nissan Tour. While showcasing the talents of national recording artists Jody Raffoul, Jessica Andrews, and Jeff Austin Black, each stop on the tour is turning up the volume on local music with the Shift _ 2 Nissan Battle of the Bands competition. To set the wheels in motion, on-line submissions for the competition are now being accepted for the first two markets on the tour (New York November 3-5 and Washington, DC November 10-12). The Battle of the Bands Champion will receive a prize package that includes: Set of Equipment valued at $10,000 and a MAC Computer featuring Pro Tools Audio Package.

The lights will shine on eight promising bands from each city slated on the Shift _ 2 Nissan tour, so musicians looking for some national exposure, this could be your big break. All eight bands from each city may also have the opportunity to have their music heard on XM Satellite Radio.

Eligible bands must enter on-line at www.shift2nissan.com (click on Battle of the Bands submission button). Registration information needed from bands will include:

  • Bands name / bio / hometown state
  • Genre of music
  • Band contact information (name, phone, e-mail)
  • A video of their best song uploaded to www.youtube.com

Band submissions must be received by 12:01 a.m. 14 days before the scheduled Shift _ 2 Nissan event date. The eight semi-finalists from each city will be notified with details for their performance (date, time and location) via phone and/or e-mail the Tuesday before the tour arrives in each city. Through on-line and on-site ballot voting, the Citys top eight bands will be narrowed down to two semi-finalists after their performances and announced on stage by the national headliners one announced Friday with the other announced Saturday.

Semi-finalists from each city will also be posted on the Shift _ 2 Nissan Web site (www.shift2nissan.com) so fans nationwide can follow the Shift _ 2 Nissan Battle of the Bands competition and continue the on-line voting in anticipation of the announcement of the Battle of the Bands champion at the end of the Shift _ 2 Nissan ten-city tour ends in February-March 2007. Each semi-finalist from the ten-city tour will have one of their tracks featured on the Shift _ 2 Nissan compilation CD, which also features songs from the tours headliners. The Battle of the Bands champion who will be chosen by a panel of music industry and Nissan executive judges. The Shift _ 2 Nissan Battle of the Bands Grand Champion will receive:

  • Set of equipment valued at $10,000
  • A MAC computer featuring a Pro Tools audio package

Fans can watch the favorite local bands they voted for compete live Friday and Saturday nights during the Shift _ 2 Nissan tour on their designated nights beginning at 6 p.m. before the headliners take the stage at 7 p.m. The evenings concerts will be hosted by DJ Xclusive from XM Satellite Radio.

Guests can conquer the track Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Fans should keep their eyes on the roads for the Shift _ 2 Nissan team members days leading up to the free weekend events. As an added bonus, all guests who obtain a Shift _ 2 Nissan passes distributed at select locations throughout the cities by team members and on-site at each venue. Guests can also register at www.shift2nissan.com for a chance to win a one-year lease on an all-new 2007 Nissan Sentra. The winner of the one-year lease will be chosen and notified at the end of the Shift _ 2 Nissan tour in 2007.
