RICH EVANS AND SKULL KING RETURN TO NHRA EVENTS AT LAS VEGAS AND POMONA
Rock Hill, S.C. - (October 19, 2006) At the National Hot Rod Association
(NHRA) Sonoma event in July, Huntington Beach Bodyworks owner Rich Evans and
his Skull King creation festooned the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Box/Ringers Glove
Shack on the Manufacturer’s Midway. Evans and Skull King will return to
the final two races of the 2006 NHRA season at Las Vegas and Pomona (Calif.).
Originally scheduled to appear only at Sonoma and Pomona, Evans will be in
Las Vegas for the SEMA Show, where the Skull King and Black Knight will be on
display at his different sponsors booths (the Black Knight will be featured
at the Chicago Pneumatic booth), at the Las Vegas Convention Center the
following week and decided he wanted to take some nitro in prior to the world
finals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
“My first NHRA event allowed me to become more in tune with the world of
drag racing,?? stated Evans. “I come from the hot rod and motorcycle world and
being at Sonoma allowed me to interact with some of the drivers, where I
developed a new friendship with Tony Pedregon, which in turn, is allowing some
of my designs to start breaking into that market.??
Pedregon asked Evans to paint a couple helmets for him this year; one of
which is Pedregon’s own design and the other, Evans’ special creation. Evans
also looks forward to painting the Q Racing pit cart for the 2007 season.
Since Sonoma, Evans has been filming a new show called Building with the
Best: Featuring Rich Evans and Gene Winfield. He has also been taping the build
of his new project, Black Knight, working on his new line of custom wheels
and preparing for the release of Succubus – Hell Bent, a movie starring Gary
Busey in which he drives Evans’ Skull King.
Evans, a custom hot rod designer, builder and painter, founded Huntington
Beach Bodyworks in 1992 out of his personal garage. After some trials and
tribulations with his business in the beginning, fate dealt him a second chance
allowing him to create a successful million dollar custom design empire that
now operates out of a building that resembles a medieval-style castle.
Evans utilizes a unique airbrushing system that appears to be tattooed on
the bodies of the vehicles he fabricates and designs.
Some of the projects that Evans has created include the aforementioned
projects, as well as the Meguiar Semi Truck, Electric Queen, Urban Assault and
Liberty.
