Ultra-Low-Power MCU Technology Showcased at TI's Fifth Annual MSP430 Advanced Technical Conference

DALLAS, Oct. 19 -- What: Attendees of the 2006 Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) MSP430 Advanced Technical Conference (ATC) will discover the latest MSP430 ultra-low power microcontroller (MCU) technology and have the opportunity to expand their MCU design expertise through a choice of hands-on labs, in-depth technical lectures and collaboration with MSP430 MCU technology experts for low power, portable design tips and tricks. Electronics and special effects specialist Grant Imahara of the Discovery Channel series "MythBusters" will address attendees on the opening day at ATC US. Imahara is a former animatronics engineer from George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), where he worked on movies including "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" and "Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace." Imahara is also the author of the book, Kickin' Bot: An Illustrated Guide to Building Combat Robots. His own machine, "Deadblow," is a BattleBots champion. Winners of the recently completed eZ430 design contest will be announced at ATC US on November 8, 2006. Contestants submitted nearly 100 projects ranging from practical everyday devices to industry-specific solutions that showed off their design skills using the world's lowest-power MSP430 MCUs and development tools, including the new eZ430-F2013-a USB stick-based full emulation and development tool. Winners will be notified prior to ATC and awarded free entry and lodging for the conference along with one of three Samsung DLP(R) HDTVs.

This versatile board features the MSP430FG4619 and MSP430F2013 devices, can be programmed using any USB flash emulation tool and is compatible with Chipcon's CC1100 evaluation nodule. Integrated peripherals include: a 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), a 12-bit successive approximation (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a 16-bit sigma delta ADC, operational amplifiers, DMA and LCD controller.
