FROM TOP FUEL,

*        Doug Kalitta (points leader), Mac Tools dragster: Doug's 29
career event wins make him the sixth winningest driver in Top Fuel
history; he has finished in second place twice (2003, 2004) in the final
POWERade Series championship standings, but never won. Doug has five
event wins this season.

*        Brandon Bernstein (83 points back), Budweiser dragster: The son
of NHRA legend Kenny Bernstein, and 2003 Auto Club Road to the Future
Award winner, is also seeking his first world championship. Brandon has
won four races and been to seven final rounds.

*        Tony Schumacher (89 points back), U.S. Army dragster: The
three-time and defending POWERade Series champion appeared poised to
make another run, but a first-round loss at Richmond was a serious
setback. He has already earned an NHRA record 12 No. 1 qualifiers with
the two events still remaining.

 

FROM PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE,

*        Antron Brown (points leader), U.S. Army Suzuki: Antron's 16
career wins are sixth best in Pro Stock Motorcycle history. He has five
career top-four finishes in the POWERade Series championship final
standings, but he's never won. Antron has two event wins this season in
a class-best five final rounds.

*        Andrew Hines (27 points back), Screamin' Eagle Vance & Hines
Harley-Davidson: The two-time defending POWERade Series champion is
certainly within reach of a third straight. Andrew has won twice this
season and been to four final rounds.

*        Angelle Sampey (64 points back), U.S. Army Suzuki: The
three-time POWERade Series champion (2000-'02) has the most wins in the
class this season (3) and may need at least one more to win a fourth
championship, which would be the most by a female in POWERade Series
history (Shirley Muldowney also has three championships).
