Damon Lusk; Woodard Racing Partner For Martinsville
MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (Tuesday, October 17, 2006) - -In an effort to assist with the various elements to make a winning-race team, Woodard Racing announced today that Damon Lusk will drive the No. 25 Woodard Racing Dodge Ram in the next three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events beginning with Saturday’s Kroger 200 from Martinsville Speedway.
Woodard Racing is in its first year of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition. Rookie driver Boston Reid, who is still employed with the team has made all 20 NCTS races thus far this season, but only has reeled in a best finish of 13th this summer at Nashville Superspeedway. The duo feels that putting Lusk in the seat will bring veteran knowledge and experience behind the wheel inching the team forward to make a concrete platform in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
“The Woodard Racing team is looking forward to having Damon (Lusk) with us for the next three races,?? said car owner Rick Woodard. “Boston Reid is a great driver. He has done a tremendous job getting this team off the ground. He has been an asset to this team and would continue to be the same for any other team. We’re hoping that by having a veteran aboard will steer this team in the right direction.??
Heading into Martinsville, Lusk a two-time ARCA RE/MAX Series winner has one prior start in the NCTS occurring in 2001 at Texas Motor Speedway in a deal with former Daytona 500 champion Derrike Cope. After starting 21st, Lusk maneuvered through the pack like a veteran scoring a solid 11th place finish. Now, Lusk returns to the series eyeing a solid debut.
“I’m really excited about this opportunity,?? said Lusk, a native of Kennewick, Washington. “Rick has done a great job guiding this team in the right direction in its inception year. I’ve seen the equipment and the program first hand and it’s impressive. I really think we are going to come out of the box strong and should be in contention for a top-ten finish this weekend.??
Lusk has spent a majority of the 2006 season competing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. In 16 races this year, Lusk recorded three top-five finishes and eight top-tens.
“I’ve seen what Damon has been able to do on the track and it’s impressed me a lot,?? continued Woodard. “He is very focused and only wants the best for this team. As our season begins to come to a close, we’re hoping that Damon can give this team some momentum heading into the 2007 season.??
Woodard Racing has immediate marketing opportunities available for their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series program for the 2006 and 2007 season.
Rolling into Martinsville, Woodard Racing who shared partnership in an ARCA RE/MAX Series program in 2005 has 20 NCTS starts to its credit. The team has amassed seven top-20 finishes including a career best qualifying effort of 18th at Nashville Superspeedway (August 2006). The team looks to improve from their 31st place finish at Martinsville Speedway in April.
The Kroger 200 (200 laps/105.2 miles) is the 21st of 25 events on the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule. Practice begins Friday, October 20 at 9:00am with a final practice to follow at 10:55am. Bud pole qualifying is set slated to begin later in the day at approximately 5:00pm. SPEED will air the event Saturday, October 21 live beginning at 1:00PM EST, with MRN handling the airwaves starting at 1:00 PM EST.
