HUNT LEADS BOTH USAC & CASA TO MADERA SATURDAY
Tony Hunt of Lincoln, Calif. has his sights set on two Sprint car driving titles this year and will lead both the USAC Western Sprint Car and California Asphalt Sprint Car Series to this Saturday's "Open Wheel Championship Night" Best of the West shootout.
Hunt has a comfortable lead in the CASA standings and is 101 ahead of Mike Murgoitio in the USAC points going into the penultimate USAC series race. He has a half-dozen USAC wins so far this year plus five wins under CASA sanction. Saturday's race concludes the 2006 CASA series.
Defending USAC titlist Kody Swanson, third in USAC points, could be the driver to watch, though, having won the first two Madera USAC/CASA events this season. Bradley Galedrige, fourth in the standings, won the last USAC/CASA race at the Madera oval.
A 50-lap feature is on tap, concluding Saturday's events which also include the USAC/BCRA Midgets.
