KUKA Robotics Selected by Dyco Inc. to Provide Robots for Robotic Bulk Palletizing Cell

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich.--KUKA Robotics Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of industrial robots, today announced it has been selected by Dyco Inc. as its robotics supplier for its new robotic bulk palletizer system. Dyco Inc., of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, will use the KUKA KR 180 PA palletizing robot fitted with a patented head tooling in its robotic bulk palletizing system which will give manufacturers the flexibility to palletize multiple empty plastic bottles and bottle configurations with minimal downtime between change over.

"Dycos new system using our robot will allow manufacturers to increase production and efficiency by palletizing multiple containers delivered on a single line or multiple lines," said Kevin Kozuszek, director of marketing for KUKA Robotics Corporation. "This flexibility will also reduce labor costs by freeing employees for more complex tasks and moving to robotic palletizing over manual methods will increase manufacturers palletizing reliability."

"We believe the KUKA robot was the best choice for this palletizing cell as its reliability, durability and speed qualities are exceptional," said Matt Synder, sales and marketing manager for Dyco Inc.

The new system is designed to palletize empty plastic containers. The robot, fitted with Dycos patented end-of-arm tool, picks up one, two or multiple rows of bottles that are delivered to it by a single or multiple conveyors. Using a preprogrammed central control system located outside of the cell the operator can easily choose different bottles, stack heights and palletizing configurations. The KUKA KR 180 PA is a four-axis robot with a 3200 mm reach and capable of handling up to a 180 kg payload.

Founded in 1973, Dyco Inc. began solving complex handling tasks created by the application of blow-molded containers to an ever increasing number of products. Over 30 years, Dyco has stayed focused on that challenge, growing in capability through each new project to become a leading innovator, designer and installer of specialized systems to handle plastic containers. Today, packing and unpacking containers remains a core aspect of Dycos product line, although current designs reflect three decades of experience and continuous improvement.
