INFINEON TEAM ON TOP AT PACIFIC DIVISION SUMMIT FINALS
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - In the final results from the NHRA Summit Racing Series Pacific Division Finals at Auto Club Famoso Raceway it was Infineon Raceway running away with the Team Championship grabbing 80 points on their way to the crown. Las Vegas Motor Speedway followed the Sonoma, Calif., team in second with 66 points and Southwestern International Raceway was third out of Tucson, Ariz., with 58. Host track Auto Club Famoso Raceway tied for fourth with Speed World Raceway Park of North Phoenix.
Larry Spitali lead the individual winner's taking out Keith Richards along with seven other competitors in the eight rounds of eliminations in Super Pro. Spitali ran a 9.725 second pass at 128.97 to go along with a 0.018 second reaction time for the win over Richards' 9.851 seconds at 135.21 mph. The Glendale, Ariz., resident running for Southwestern Int'l Raceway also beat the Summit Race of Champions Super Pro winner from Saturday Dan Beebe in round six.
Returning to the winner's circle in the Pro category was Tony Marconi out of Surprise, Ariz., who won the Pacific Division Summit Championship in 2004. Marconi, representing Speed World, raced to an 11.336 second, 112.38 mph pass in beating Dean Kirkman of Madera, Calif., racing for Famoso.
Ryan Hart held off Jack Swanson in his '99 Alero for his share of the $27,000 cash purse with a 16.971 second lap at 77.82 mph in the Sportsman final.
William Wilson ran down Eddie Palmer to take the trophy in the Motorcycle class running 8.185 seconds at 169.70 mph on his '94 Kawasaki out of Phoenix. Palmer, of Orangevale, Calif., and Sacramento Raceway, ran a 9.657 second 130.32 mph pass. Los Angeles County Raceway's Thomas Redding Jr. rounded out the NHRA Pacific Division Summit winner's with a victory in High School over Matt Hawk. Redding drove his '69 Nova to a 12.440 second run at 105.59 mph.
