Justin Henderson

October 15, 2006 (Kenosha, WI) For World of Outlaws Rookie of the year contender, Justin Henderson it has been a season in which the Sioux Falls, SD native has learned to keep things in perspective. The mission for 2007 was really a simple one, try not to tear up too many race cars, make “A” mains, collect top 10 finishes and with some luck some top 5’s and perhaps if he is in the right place at the right time a win. With last nights 5th place finish at Wilmot Speedway, Henderson and the Jolt Energy Gum #D1 Schnee climbed to 8th in the World of Outlaws driver points. There was a stretch however in the middle of the season when the team was tearing up race cars and struggling and points were the furthest thing from their minds.

During the heaviest part of the schedule during June and July the team was using a bent race car most nights as lady bad luck paid them a visit. Henderson and Jolt Energy Gum team had several incidents that were not of their making leaving them with damaged race cars and parts. However the always smiling Henderson kept his head up and his confidence high and things started to turn around in late August at Skagit Speedway. Racing at yet another track he had never seen, Henderson collected two top 10 finsihes on consecutive nights and began building momentum.

The Gold Cup Race of Champions is one of the biggest races of the year on the World of Outlaws schedule paying $50,000.00 to win and the prestige of the title. This would be the Jolt Energy Gum team’s fist visit to to the historic ¼ mile bullring in Chico, CA but you would have never known it. Henderson earned the respect of all the competitors with a 7th place finish on opening night in the “A” and backed it up with another 7th place finish on the final night. Last night at Wilmot Speedway, Henderson collected his second top 5 finish of the season and jumped 2 positions in the points to 8th.

“We will definitely take a 5th place finish tonight.” Said Henderson. “The car was good but just a bit off to run with the top 3 tonight. The Jolt Energy Gum Schnee was just a bit tight and it was hard to keep it nailed down to the bottom but hey we jumped up in points. At this late stage of the season it is real close for 8th through 10th. I really want to finish in the 8th place spot, I mean hey the money is better. We are coming up to some tracks (Tucson and Las Vegas) that we had top 10’s on. I really like Tucson and have confidence that we could win there. We ran 2nd for most of that race and just a few mistakes by me cost us a top 5, believe me I have learned from those and we will not make them again. All in all we are pretty proud of how this season has gone and we are really looking forward to next season.”
