(October 14, 2006) -- After being postponed one week and with the weather cooperating this weekend, qualifying was finally run and completed for the Inaugural NHRA Torco Racing Fuels Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park located in Dinwiddie, Va., just a short drive from Richmond. Rookie driver and nominee for the Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the Future Award (Rookie of the Year) Hillary Will, driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster, qualified No. 13 by recording a run of 4.634 seconds during the two days of qualifying. Will begins her run for the Torco Racing Fuels Nationals Top Fuel title tomorrow when she faces No. 4 qualifier, Kalitta Motorsports teammate Doug Kalitta, who qualified with a pass of 4.549 seconds at 309.56 mph. Eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. From Fortuna, Calif., Will, 26, who now lives in Ypsilanti, Mich., powered her KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster to a runner-up finish at Memphis. She posted semifinal finishes at Englishtown and Sonoma and is currently ninth in the NHRA POWERade Series Top Fuel standings, the highest ranked rookie driver in the professional classes. She qualified a season-high second at Denver and clocked career-best performances of 4.507 seconds, 328.78 mph.
