Will chases event title from the No. 13 position *
DINWIDDIE, Va. (October 14, 2006) -- After being postponed one week and
with the weather cooperating this weekend, qualifying was finally run
and completed for the Inaugural NHRA Torco Racing Fuels Nationals at
Virginia Motorsports Park located in Dinwiddie, Va., just a short drive
from Richmond.
Rookie driver and nominee for the Automobile Club of Southern California
Road to the Future Award (Rookie of the Year) Hillary Will, driver of
the KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster,
qualified No. 13 by recording a run of 4.634 seconds during the two days
of qualifying.
Will begins her run for the Torco Racing Fuels Nationals Top Fuel title
tomorrow when she faces No. 4 qualifier, Kalitta Motorsports teammate
Doug Kalitta, who qualified with a pass of 4.549 seconds at 309.56 mph.
Eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m.
From Fortuna, Calif., Will, 26, who now lives in Ypsilanti, Mich.,
powered her KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel
dragster to a runner-up finish at Memphis. She posted semifinal finishes
at Englishtown and Sonoma and is currently ninth in the NHRA POWERade
Series Top Fuel standings, the highest ranked rookie driver in the
professional classes. She qualified a season-high second at Denver and
clocked career-best performances of 4.507 seconds, 328.78 mph.
ESPN2 / ESPN2 HD will air qualifying highlights for the Inaugural NHRA
Torco Racing Fuels Nationals along with same-day television coverage of
eliminations on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 7 until 9:30 p.m. Also, tune in to

partners for 2006. In addition to Hillary Will's Top Fuel Dragster, KB

GTOs, driven by Greg Anderson and Jason Line on the NHRA POWERade Drag
Racing Series. Anderson has won three consecutive POWERade Pro Stock
Championships (2003-2005). Line finished third in the 2005 POWERade
point standings, second in 2004, and was honored with the 2004
Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the Future award,
presented to the most outstanding rookie in a professional category.
Kalitta Motorsports (www.kalittaracing.com), owned by the legendary drag
racer and successful businessman Connie Kalitta, will field, in addition
to Will's dragster, three additional nitro fuel cars -- two Top Fuel
dragsters and a Funny Car -- in 2006 in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing
Series. Doug Kalitta will drive the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster, David
Grubnic will handle the driving duties on the StriVectin-SD Top Fuel
Dragster and Scott Kalitta moves from Top Fuel to the Kalitta Air Funny
