*Anderson runs quickest pass in NHRA Pro Stock history,
No. 1 after first day of qualifying *

DINWIDDIE, Va. (October 13, 2006) -- After a week delay, qualifying for
the Inaugural NHRA Torco Racing Fuels Nationals got underway today at
Virginia Motorsports Park located in Dinwiddie, Va., just a short drive
from Richmond. This is the first time the NHRA has raced here since 2000.

In the opening qualifying session for Pro Stock cars, Greg Anderson, who
drives the Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO owned by KB
Racing LLC, recorded the quickest Pro Stock pass in NHRA history when he
blazed the quarter-mile in 6.598 seconds.

"Obviously, it was a great start to what is shaping up as an exciting
weekend," said Anderson following today's qualifying and his record
run. "It is the best air that we've has to run in going back two to
three years. The race track should be even better tomorrow and we
expect to run quicker.

"We're having fun. It's a neat, neat deal. It's exciting for a driver
when you can run that quick. You can definitely tell a difference. The
record is probably going to bounce back and forth this weekend like it
did last time at Reading. When you're having fun like this you stop
worrying about the point chase and all that other stuff. It's neat."

Although it may sound redundant, for the record, the three-time and
reigning NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion is No. 1 at the end of the
first day of qualifying. Two qualifying sessions remain tomorrow,
scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m.

Anderson's 6.598 broke the 6.609 second record Anderson's teammate Jason
Line established at the last race in Reading, Pa. Ironically, Line also
broke his own record on the same pass, running 6.602 seconds, but didn't
have the quick numbers that Anderson had, although Line did run the
fastest speed in NHRA Pro Stock history, a 209.26 mph pass.

With only three races remaining on the 2006 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing
Series schedule, including this event, Anderson continues his pursuit of
a fourth consecutive championship. Anderson, in second in the point
standings, has pulled to within 56 points of Line. Dave Connolly is
third, 183 points behind Line and 127 behind Anderson.

ESPN2 / ESPN2 HD will air qualifying highlights for the Inaugural NHRA
Torco Nationals and same-day television coverage of eliminations on
Sunday, Oct. 15 from 7 until 9:30 p.m. Also, tune in to NHRA2Day on
ESPN2 / ESPN2 HD, the weekly show that gives you the latest information
about the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. NHRA2Day can be seen on
Sunday morning, Oct. 15, from 12:30-1 p.m. *Television times are
Eastern Time (ET) and subject to change at anytime. Check local listings.*
