Armor All and Jon Wood Pick America's Top Car Detailer
--Contest Winner Named Honorary Pit Crew Member for Friday's Busch Series Race--
HARRISBURG, N.C., Oct. 13 -- Facing 20 minutes on the clock and one very dirty 2006 Ford Fusion, but armed with plenty of Armor All(R) products, Kathy Lozowski washed away the competition and earned the top spot in The Armor All/STP Products Company's Do It Yourself (DIY) DARE contest on Thursday at Wood Brothers/ST Motorsports in Harrisburg, NC.
Kathy Lozowski of Amityville, NY defeated four other national semi- finalists who spent 20 intense minutes competing against each other before a celebrity judging panel, including Jon Wood, driver of the #47 Armor All Busch Series car, and Big Dane of West Coast Customs.
In winning the premiere Armor All DIY DARE title, Kathy will earn an honorary spot on Jon Wood's pit crew during the Dollar General 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Friday night. Kathy also won a $10,000 Dream Garage courtesy of The Armor All/STP Products Company.
The judges assert it takes a lot of skill to impress them, but Kathy has demonstrated she has what it takes.
"This event has been a lot of fun, but the real treat has been to watch these contestants battle it out with a hose, a sponge and some Armor All products," said Wood. "If I could make cars look as good as Kathy does, I might quit the racing business and start my own detailing shop."
"Kathy has some serious car washing skills," said celebrity judge Big Dane. "For her to be selected as a semi-finalist, come out here and emerge victorious against this kind of competition, speaks volumes. I might have my West Coast Customs crew get some of her tips."
Armor All recently sounded the horn to car enthusiasts from across the country to visit the Armor All Owner center at www.aaownercenter.com and share why "Nobody's car looks as good as mine because I use Armor All products." Out of all the entries that were submitted, only five semi-finalists were selected and flown to Charlotte to compete for the grand prize on Thursday. The other semi-finalists were:
- Emily Sheesley, Glasgow, KY - Penny Duell, Greeley, CO - Kimberly Carland, Hendersonville, NC - Jim Flowers, Lake Charles, LA
"We have six cars at home, and we use Armor All on all of them. I can't believe I am going to be a pit crew member with the #47 team on Friday night. To be this close to NASCAR is awesome," Kathy said.
The Armor All DIY DARE Challenge was created to uncover America's best do- it-yourself interior and exterior car cleaning buff. Armor All has created the Owner Center to provide people with an online community where they can discover new car care tips, and exchange information with other members on their own tips and home remedies.
