50 Race Fans' Faces to Adorn Tony Stewart's No. 8 DEI NASCAR Busch Series Race Car at Charlotte
Goody's Headache Powders to Donate $5,000 to Dale Earnhardt Foundation
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 12 -- Everybody wins in the Mayor of Goody's Country Contest. Goody's Headache Powder(R) today announced that all 50 finalists have been recognized as "Deputy Mayors" of Goody's Country and will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have their faces featured on the hood of Tony Stewart's No. 8 Dale Earnhardt Inc. Chevrolet at the NASCAR Busch Series race in Charlotte on Friday, October 13.
Each of the 50 candidates campaigned vigorously to earn the opportunity to see their face on Stewart's car. Goody's Headache Powders created a composite photograph with each contestant featured within a medal and checkered flags design. Each finalist will also receive two tickets to a NASCAR race, an autographed photograph of Tony Stewart and a Goody's Headache Powders gift package.
"Congratulations to all the candidates for working so hard to prove why they should be Deputy Mayors of Goody's Country," said Stewart, the two-time and reigning NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series champion. "I am honored to have a sponsor such as Goody's Headache Powders for the Busch race in Charlotte and to have the image of 50 race fans adorn the hood of my race car. This really symbolizes what Goody's Headache Powders is all about -- giving back to the fans."
Earlier this summer, Goody's Headache Powders invited all NASCAR fans to go to goodyspowder.com to compete to become the "Mayor of Goody's Country" and get their face in the race. With the opportunity on the line, the fans responded with more than 950 entries epitomizing the theme that "everything is faster in Goody's Country." Fifty finalists campaigned for online votes. While Goody's Headache Powders intended to select one Mayor of Goody's Country, it decided to recognize all 50 contestants as Deputy Mayors due to voting irregularities.
"The response to the Mayor of Goody's Country election campaign was overwhelming. The final 50 candidates put it all out there to demonstrate why they should all be Deputy Mayors of Goody's Country where everything is about speed," said Darren Singer, vice president of Goody's Marketing. "We're delighted that Tony Stewart and the No. 8 DEI car will showcase such an enthusiastic group of race fans and loyal Goody's Headache Powders users."
In addition, Goody's Headache Powders announced a $5,000 donation to the Dale Earnhardt Foundation in honor of each of the 50 finalists.
"We are excited to be an additional winner in the Mayor of Goody's Country Contest," said Richie Gilmore, vice president of Motorsports at Dale Earnhardt, Inc. "We are also pleased to see our foundation recognized on the hood of Stewart's car and be associated with such an enthusiastic group of NASCAR fans. The $5,000 donation in their names will allow us to continue Dale's legacy by enhancing our ability to support its initiatives: education, children, the environment and wildlife preservation."
Goody's also sponsors the Goody's Headache of the Race, the Goody's Headache Powder "Extra Strength Award" and the Goody's Fast Relief Zone. The Goody's Headache of the Race Award is given to the driver that suffers the worst luck in each week's Nextel Cup and Busch Series races as determined by fans voting online at goodyspowder.com. The Goody's Extra Strength Award is a weekly NASCAR contingency award given to the highest finishing Busch Series driver who competes in the series full-time. The Goody's Fast Relief Zone is an interactive NASCAR experience for fans to enjoy and sample Goody's Headache Powder at select NASCAR races.
