For Car Nuts, by Car Nuts: Racer’s Attic Web Site Offers Rare Treasures
DALLAS--Following a late evening of pints and racing lore, a group of automotive enthusiasts and vintage racing buffs launched a Web site named Racer’s Attic. The site lets fellow automotive and racing memorabilia seekers buy and sell precious finds from across the globe. Buying, selling and browsing the timeless pieces can be done at www.racersattic.com.
“Racer’s Attic was designed to give car nuts a place to connect and exchange truly exclusive pieces,” said Phil Schroeder, founder of CAR’S THE STAR and an avid automotive enthusiast. “Prior to this site, automotive extremists, die-hard racing fans and collectors had no central location to purchase and sell these distinctive items outside of mass-production auction Web sites. Racer’s Attic is stocked with an assortment of collector pieces, fine art originals and prints, estate memorabilia and various other auto-related items.”
Rummaging through the historic merchandise connects buyers and suppliers with numerous racing celebrities through the common love of automobiles. Items currently featured at Racer’s Attic include original paintings by artist John Austin Hanna, discontinued prints by Bill Neale and a Shelby signed copy of “Remembering the Shelby Years: 1962-1969,” a hardcover coffee table book chronicling the golden years of racing legend Carroll Shelby.
Racer’s Attic also looks to garner steering wheels, driver suits, blueprints, passports and even vintage race tickets. Other items will be packaged as sets to give the buyer the thrill of nabbing two or more limited pieces from the same artist, driver or automotive superstar. A forum is being added to the site and will allow enthusiasts to interact.
Racer’s Attic features a photo, a brief description and the price of each collectable. The site retains a percentage of the total cost and forwards the remainder to the owner of the item. Sellers are not currently charged to list collectibles on the Web site.
