Justin South Iowa Preview
New Outlook for Justin South Heading to Iowa
For Immediate Release
(10/11/06 - Mooresville, NC)
- Hueytown, Alabama's Justin South is heading to the Iowa Speedway this
weekend for the ARCA RE/MAX Series Prairie Meadows 250 with a new outlook and a
new team.
South, burst onto the scene at the age of 16, made his first ARCA RE/MAX
Series start at Salem Speedway in September of 2004 and finished 2nd.
Today at 18, Justin competed last weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway and
earned the 14th place finishing position.
Following the Talladega event and heading to the Iowa Speedway, South has
parted ways with 3-D Motorsports and long time crew chief Doug Reid and joins
forces with veteran owner and crew chief Bob Schacht and the Bob Schacht
Motorsports Team for the Prairie Meadows 250 at the Iowa Speedway.
"I'm very excited about racing with a new team that has so much experience
in this kind of racing," said South, "I really feel that the move to Bob
Schacht Motorsports is going to be a big step closer to furthering my goal to
compete in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series." Justin added, "I've been in Mooresville
at the shop since Monday just getting to know Bob (Schacht) and the team and
we seem to have hit it off really well, I'm looking for good things this
weekend in Iowa."
Veteran crew chief, owner and driver Bob Schacht has over 35 years of
experience behind him with 19 ARCA RE/MAX Series victories and 16 Pork Pole Awards
to his credit and has successfully conquered every type of track that has
been thrown his way. Although the new Iowa Speedway is a brand new venue for the
ARCA RE/MAX Series, it's not a new scenario for Schacht he and the Bob
Schacht Motorsports team took the ARCA RE/MAX Series inaugural win at Memphis
Motorsports Park a few years ago, after never seeing the track or any test laps.
Look for this crafty and knowledgeable crew chief to have Iowa figured out.
"I'm excited about this kid," said Schacht, "I've been taking notice of him
since he finished 2nd in his first race, I mean you gotta respect that,
Salem's not an easy place to race. He did a good job last week at Talladega and
we're looking forward to the Iowa race, I think Justin (South) will do us a good
job."
Justin is hoping to get things together and make the move to Mooresville, NC
in the near future, and with a successful run in Iowa he hopes to be able to
maybe make a run at the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series championship.
Justin South and the Bob Schacht Motorsports Team will have their #24 Ford
at the new Iowa Speedway on Saturday, October 14 for a 2-hour practice session
from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM, Pork Pole Qualifying is scheduled for 4:00 PM. The
Prairie Meadows 250 is set to take the green at 1:30 PM on Sunday, October
15, with live television coverage on the SPEED channel.
