BERGENHOLTZ NAMED WD-40 NHRA SPORT COMPACT CHIEF OF THE RACE
FOR THE NHRA SPORT COMPACT FALLNATIONALS
GLENDORA, Calif. – Ron Bergenholtz, crew chief for his brother Ed and his Audiobahn/Mazdaspeed 6, has been named the WD-40 NHRA Sport Compact Crew Chief of the Race for the NHRA Sport Compact Fallnationals presented by Toyo Tires in Englishtown, N.J.
Bergenholtz was successful in guiding the team to a victory in the Pro FWD category at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, Sept. 30–Oct. 1. This was Bergenholtz’s eighth career Wally trophy.
“Oh, this is cool,” said Bergenholtz. “In all honesty, though, I don’t deserve it. Crew chiefs are great, but anybody who is able to get a car down the track deserves the award. I’m just one particular part of getting that car down the track.”
By winning the WD-40 NHRA Sport Compact Crew Chief of the Race award, Bergenholtz will be honored at the opening ceremonies of the Nitto NHRA Sport Compact World Finals on Sunday, Oct. 22.
“I use WD-40 for the lubrication of raw metals of the chassis,” continued Bergenholtz. “It is a great rust inhibitor. I also use it on things that need to slip together like injector seals. It creates such a fine film unlike grease. So, I would have to say it is a great rust inhibitor and lubricator.”
At each race stop for the NHRA Xplôd Sport Compact Racing Series the WD-40 Company will offer an award to recognize the NHRA Sport Compact Crew Chief of the Race. The winning Crew Chief of the Race will earn $250, a plaque, and will receive recognition during the opening ceremonies at each NHRA Sport Compact Series event and on NHRAsportcompact.com.
