Tim Sauter, Lester Buildings Lowes Preview
After a week off to prepare, the NASCAR Busch series teams are “home”
this weekend at the Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte for the Dollar
General 300. Tim Sauter and the McGill Motorsports team are hoping to
improve on the 27th place finish the team had earlier in the year at
the fast mile and a half speedway.
The team is bringing the same car that ran at Kansas two weeks ago.
“The guys in the shop have worked real hard to make the car stronger
for this week, we had some damage on the right front from a pit-road
incident. The week off gave them plenty of time to get the car ready.
I really think we can improve on our run here in May,” Sauter explained.
This will be the second to last race for Lester Buildings as the
primary sponsor of the #36. “We would really like to reward Lester
with a good run this weekend,” Sauter said. “Lester started selling
buildings in the Charlotte area last year, and the Motorsports
program has been a real boost to the sales in this part of the country.”
Fourteen year-old Raine Angelley was awaiting a kidney transplant
when he was Sauter and the McGill Motorsports team’s special guest
for the May race. Raine received his donor kidney on August 23rd and
is recovering amazingly well. Raine was thrilled when Tim called him
at the hospital shortly after the procedure, and is now hooked on
NASCAR racing. His new kidney is functioning at 100% and Raine should
resume normal activities within several months.
There are 47 entries on the preliminary entry list for the Dollar
General 300. Twenty-one drivers are attempting the “double-duty” of
both the Busch and Cup races this weekend.
Qualifying for the Dollar General 300 will air live on SPEED
beginning at five o’clock eastern on Friday, October 13th. The green
flag will fly at eight o’clock eastern the same day. The race can be
seen live on TNT and will be broadcast on PRN radio stations across
the country.
• The Dollar General 300 will be Tim’s 111th start in the NBS and
116th career NASCAR start.
• Tim is currently 26th in NBS driver points.
• All three Sauter brothers will be attempting this weekends Dollar
General 300.
• Tim finished 27th in the Carquest Autoparts 300 in May at the Lowes
Motor Speedway.
• This will be the seventh time Tim has competed at Charlotte in the
NBS. Best Finish; 13th on October 12th 2002 driving the AP
Performance Chevy.
Tim’s thoughts on the Kansas Speedway: “This place is so much
smoother after they repaved it. It’s really fast. It’s great for the
crew guys to race this close to home after that long summer stretch."
• This will be the sixth time McGill Motorsports has competed at
Charlotte in the NBS. Best Finish; 21st on May 28th, 2005 with
Stanton Barrett driving.
