CALIFORNIA PAVEMENT FOCUSES TARGET BLYTHE OCT. 28

 

 

            Michael Faccinto won USAC's first ever Ford Focus visit to Arizona on Saturday, winning the 30-lap USAC California Ford Focus Pavement Midget Car Series race at Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City.

 

            Faccinto, one of three leaders over the course of the race, challenged point leader Tim Skoglund for several laps before wrestling the point away for the final time Lap 11. From there, he was never headed, beating Faccinto to the stripe.

 

            Paul Zimmerly, Laura Hayes and Laura Poorter rounded out the Top 5. Hayes led the opening two laps before Skoglund took command.

 

            Faccinto and Poorter were victorious in the eight-lap heats, while Skoglund won a four-lap dash. Poorter was also the event's fast qualifier.

 

            Skoglund's lead is set at 54 points. The next series race is scheduled for Oct. 28 at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif.
