A. O. Smith Declares Quarterly Dividend

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 9, 2006 -- Directors of A. O. Smith Corporation today declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $.17 per share on Common Stock and Class A Common Stock.

The dividend is payable on November 15 to shareholders of record October 31.
