Aftermarket Technology Corp. Announces Supply Agreements With Three Customers for NuVinci (TM) CVP Technology

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Oct. 9, 2006 -- Aftermarket Technology Corp. , today announced that it has supply agreements with its first three customers for the NuVinci branded continuously variable planetary (CVP) transmissions manufactured by ATC.

NuVinci technology is a new class of highly adaptable and scalable continuously variable transmissions (CVTs). This new technology is a transmission based on spheres, not gears; hence CVP. The NuVinci CVP has the potential to be used in a wide variety of products that use a transmission, including: bicycles and e-bikes; light electric vehicles (LEVs); lawn & garden/utility and all terrain vehicles (ATVs); recreational vehicles; and ultimately for use in higher-end, more sophisticated vehicles.

NuVinci technology was developed by Fallbrook Technologies Inc., and ATC is the licensed manufacturer of the CVP for various market verticals.

On September 27, 2006 at the International Bicycle Exposition ("Interbike"), in Las Vegas, Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles, Inc., Batavus B.V., and Currie Technologies, Inc. debuted innovative new bikes, e-bikes and scooters equipped with the NuVinci branded CVP hub. The NuVinci CVP is the first fundamentally new approach to bicycle drivetrain technology in decades.

The NuVinci CVP will be launched in The Ride(TM) by Ellsworth, the first in a new line of "performance lifestyle bikes." Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles, Inc. is a premium manufacturer and designer of highly sought-after and high-end bicycles. The Ride(TM) will be the world's first commercially available bicycle with NuVinci CVP technology.

Tony Ellsworth, Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles, Inc.'s President and CEO, said, "ATC has taken the supply relationship to a new level of professionalism drawing on their experience in serving the automotive industry for the past thirty years. Their customer service and launch support for my new The Ride(TM) series of bikes using the NuVinci CVP hub has been over the top and shows their level of commitment to the product and to the success of my Company as a customer."

Batavus, one of the most respected bicycle brands in Europe will utilize NuVinci CVPs in various commuter and pleasure bicycles to be marketed in both the U.S. and Europe. Batavus is a subsidiary of the Accell Group, among the largest companies currently serving the European bicycle market. Batavus has been a pioneer in building bicycles and bicycle equipment for over 100 years. Batavus' new line of bicycles is scheduled for launch in Europe during the first quarter of 2007. ATC and Batavus have worked together for approximately 18 months preparing for the launch.

Rob Beset, President and General Manager of Batavus, said, "From the early stages of the relationship, ATC demonstrated their commitment to Batavus by engaging our engineering team in a joint design cycle so that ATC understood our customers' requirements and to ensure those needs would be achieved. ATC has underscored their commitment to Batavus by being responsive to our requests to implement design revisions aimed at simplifying Batavus' assembly processes. They lead with their customer service which has been demonstrated by their engineering, technical and sales staffs being available at short notice to participate with our team in planning and implementing the exciting NuVinci product. We, at Batavus, look forward to the advantages offered by ATC honed from decades of automotive experience to bring automotive levels of quality, service, process discipline, and Just-in-Time inventory delivery."

Currie Technologies, Inc. is expanding its IZIP(TM) product line to include hybrid electric bicycles and electric scooters utilizing NuVinci CVP technology from ATC. Two models are currently under development: the lightweight electric bicycle will be commercially available during the fourth quarter of 2006 and the electric scooter is scheduled for the first quarter of 2007.

Larry Pizzi, President and CEO of Currie Technologies, Inc., said, "ATC's support work with the Currie staff to integrate the NuVinci CVP hub into our e-bike and scooter products has been excellent. At the Interbike show recently, the NuVinci hub and its capability certainly helped to pique interest in our products.
