Business Intelligence Perspectives Names R. L. Polk & Co. Winner of 'Best Practices in Business Intelligence' Award

Implementation of RLPTechnologies' solution for Enterprise Information Management is recognized by IDG's Computerworld for Excellence In Business Intelligence

DETROIT, Oct. 9 -- RLPTechnologies today announced that its parent company, R. L. Polk & Co., has been selected by Computerworld's Business Intelligence Perspectives, the premier conference for leaders in the business intelligence and IT management sector, as a recipient of its "Best Practices in Business Intelligence" awards program in the category of "Planning, Designing and Building the BI Infrastructure."

R. L. Polk & Co. implemented a comprehensive, integrated solution designed and developed by RLPTechnologies, Inc., to specifically manage complex data management challenges. RLPT's enterprise information management solution, called OneView360, has enabled Polk to increase its data processing performance by greater than 50 percent, streamlined its IT infrastructure to significantly lower its IT asset total cost of ownership, while increasing scalability.

Polk is the recognized expert in automotive information, intelligence and insight providing business value by helping companies make better business decisions based on over 240 different sources, including state agencies, automotive manufacturers, finance companies and a variety of providers of lifestyle and demographic information.

Sponsored by Hyperion, the Business Intelligence Perspectives' annual awards identify and acknowledge excellence among users of business intelligence solutions and approaches. Honorees were announced on Sept. 27 during a special Business Intelligence Perspectives awards ceremony at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A wide range of IT end-user companies and organizations responded to an initial "call for nominations," which was originally announced to multiple industry audiences, including Computerworld subscribers responsible for business intelligence management. Finalists were evaluated by a panel of judges based on case study submissions that profiled the company, its IT department and infrastructure project management challenges, as well as application deployment details, summaries of the key technology used and measurable solution outcomes.

"Business intelligence initiatives are at the center of converting information technology to information management and competitive advantage," said Ron Milton, Executive Vice President, Computerworld. "The organizations and professionals judged to be finalists in Computerworld's 2006 'Best Practices in Business Intelligence' Awards Program have unlocked the true value of business intelligence and applying analytics to their advantage."

"We are honored to have received recognition from Computerworld for our business intelligence practices," said Kevin Vasconi, CIO Polk North America and president, RLPTechnologies, Inc. "Our implemented solution, OneView360, was designed to optimize investments made in business intelligence systems by ensuring richer, timelier and higher quality data feeds. Through master data management, a service-oriented architecture and grid computing infrastructure, OneView360 was able to help us greatly reduce cost, time and overall risk."
