RAIN POSTPONES TORCO RACING FUELS NHRA NATIONALS AT VMP UNTIL OCT. 13-15

DINWIDDIE, Va. -- A steady soaking rain and chilling temperatures Saturday
and a wet weather forecast for the remainder of the weekend have forced NHRA
officials to postpone the Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals at Virginia
Motorsports Park until next weekend, Oct. 13-15.

The $1.6 million race, the 21st of 23 events in the $50 million NHRA
POWERade Drag Racing Series, marks the first time NHRA has held an event at
the quarter-mile drag strip near Richmond, Va. since 2000. Larry Dixon (Top
Fuel), John Force (Funny Car) and Jeg Coughlin( Pro Stock) earned victories
here that season.

NHRA POWERade Series points races are intense in all three professional
categories that are scheduled to compete here. Doug Kalitta holds a 52 point
lead over Tony Schumacher in Top Fuel, while Brandon Bernstein is third, 62
points back. In Funny Car, 13-time world champ John Force holds a 1 point
lead over Ron Capps, and Robert Hight, winner of two of the last three
events, is 35 points back in third place. Jason Line leads three-time
defending world champ Greg Anderson by 56 points in Pro Stock.

Next weekend's race schedule will be the same with qualifying rounds
scheduled for 3 and 6 p.m. on Friday the 13th, noon and 3 p.m. on Saturday
the 14th and eliminations set for 11 a.m. on Sunday the 15th.

The value of tickets purchased for this weekend can be applied to tickets
for next weekend or next season's event here. For ticket information,
