DETROIT, Oct. 5 -- Multiple industries are converging at AIAG's third annual RFID Summit on Nov. 2, 2006, at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Mich., to underscore the importance of RFID and share their applications of the technology to achieve supply chain visibility and compliance with federal regulations, such as the TREAD Act.

For the first time, The Boeing Company will present at the conference, providing insight into its strategy on developing common parts-marking and automated data-collection requirements and plans to deploy RFID. Additional organizations discussing implementations include DaimlerChrysler AG, the Department of Defense, EPCglobal and Michelin. AMR Research will reveal trends on RFID adoption, as well as project when the technology will become mainstream. A key topic on the agenda is the recently updated AIAG B-11: Tire and Wheel Label Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Standard -- which can help companies to meet the requirements of several industries, including retail -- and how it has influenced changes within ISO and EPC standards. AIAG will also provide an update on its returnable container tracking initiative.
The newest advancements in RFID technology will be on display from approximately 25 vendors and solution providers on an exhibit floor. A networking reception wraps up the event.
