XM Satellite Radio’s Hot Import Nights Brings Nightshift to Phoenix with Motor Sports, Go-Go Dancing and Special Performances
IRVINE, Calif.--XM Satellite Radio’s Nightshift, the nation’s largest youth lifestyle custom car show, comes to Phoenix on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 4-11 p.m. at the Firebird International Raceway. In addition to drifting demos, sportbike stunts and go-go dancing competitions, Chamillionaire and Ak’Sent will both perform on the Mazda Main Stage.
Chamillionaire’s summer single with Krayzie Bone, “Ridin” was the number one song on Billboard’s Hot 100, and his debut album The Sound of Revenge, went Platinum. His 2006 success earned him nominations with the 2006 BET Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards. After making her Hot Imports Nights debut in Los Angeles, Ak’Sent, Capitol Record’s newest talent, will perform on the Mazda Main Stage with songs from her debut album, International. The album features collaborations with Reggae icon Beenie Mac and DJ Quik.
In addition to hundreds of the nation’s and Phoenix’s most unique customized cars, Kane One, recently featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Stunt Junkies,” will lead stunt bike exhibitions throughout the day and night. With the new ownership of Action Pursuit Group and their influence with publications like Drifting and Drive, Nightshift will continue to feature its dynamic drifting demos and exhibitions in Phoenix. Returning sponsor, Valvoline will present Super Street Cars on Tour with the one-of-a-kind Charge Speed STI straight from Japan, the full carbon fiber chassis CWest S2000 and the chameleon color-changing HKS-powered IS300. In addition, motocross champion Travis Pastrana will feature his Subaru rally car.
On the Mazda stage, HIN’s Glo-Go dancers will show off their go-go skills against the best dancers of Phoenix in the new Rockstar Energy Drink National Glo-Go Dancer Competition, a city-to-city dance rivalry. On the XM Satellite Radio Stage, local club DJs and b-boy groups will compete for top accolades. And the competitions continue with the search for the next Miss HIN 2007 in the Queen of the Scene competition and the selection of Miss HIN Phoenix, hosted by HIN International Spokesmodel Ursula Mayes. Ursula, Miss HIN 2005, can be seen elsewhere this year as one of Maxim’s “Sexiest 100.” With only two more cities left in the XM Satellite Radio Hot Import Nights 2006 tour, the crowning of Miss HIN 2007 is right around the corner.
A special moment in the Nightshift evening will allow show attendees to recognize guests from the U.S. Military—Soldiers who recently returned from Iraq and Afghanistan. HIN and its sponsors will welcome Soldiers participating in Operation Tribute to Freedom, a U.S. Military outreach program designed to honor those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
