CISCO BURGER WORLD FIGURE 8 CHAMPIONSHIPS HIGHLIGHT 
RACING ACTION SATURDAY AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY 

 

IRWINDALE, Calif. (October 4, 2006) – Five races 
including the Cisco Burger World Figure 8 Championships presented by Oakley 
Sunglasses, Pick Your Part and West Coast Choppers highlight Southern California 
Pipe Trades Night Saturday, October 7 at Irwindale Speedway.  

 

Many of Figure 8 racing’s top competitors including Jesse 
James, host of Discovery Channel’s Monster Garage, will compete in the 60 minute 
race featuring a cash purse that pays through the top thirty finishing positions 
including $10,000 to the winner. 

 

Saturday evening’s schedule also includes a 100-lap open 
invitational feature race for Auto Club Late Division cars led by 2006 division 
champion Travis Thirkettle of Newhall, Calif., 2005 champion Tim Huddleston of Agoura Hills, Calif. and 
Mike Johnson of Covina, 
Calif. 

 

The King Taco Super Truck division will wrap up its 
season with 2006 division champion Ron Peterson of Riverside, Calif. keeping 
an eye on the battle for division runner-up honors with only 12 points 
separating second place rookie Matt Hicks of Santee, Calif. and third place Pat 
Mintey Jr. of Quartz Hill, 
Calif.

 

Division leader Tyler Rogers of Riverside enters Saturday’s Snap-on Tools Mini Stocks 
finale holding a 24-point lead over Kevin Bernhardt of Fontana, Calif. as they battle for the division crown. 
Brian Johnson of Covina, 
Calif. is in third place and trails 
Bernhardt by 44 points.

 

The Justice Brothers Pure Stock division wraps up its 
season on Saturday. Rick Crow of Simi Valley, 
Calif. is the 2006 division champion and Harry 
Michaelian of Lawndale, 
Calif.  has secured runner-up honors, but third 
place is up for grabs as Jeff Elder of Redlands, Calif. clings on to a two point 
lead over Ron Davis of Norwalk, Calif.

 

UPCOMING: VW 
Drag Day returns to Irwindale Speedway Sunday, October 8 featuring drag racing, 
a swap meet and a show and shine competition. Gates open at 8 a.m. Admission is 
$15.00 with kids admitted for free….Formula Drift will hold the final round of 
its season Saturday, October 14 at Irwindale Speedway. Log on to www.formulad.com 
for further details….Test and tune, the popular activity held weekly takes place 
this Thursday, October 5 under the lights from 5-10 p.m. The activity allows 
local racers the opportunity to race their street legal cars on Irwindale 
Speedway’s 1/8-mile drag strip. It costs $20.00 to race, $10.00 to watch ($5.00 
for kids 6-12 years with 5 years and under admitted for free).

Southern California members receive a 10% discount off of the purchase of up to 
four (4) adult general admission tickets for regular Saturday oval racing events
