WHAT:

Vintage car racing will take over Infineon Raceway with the Classic Sports Racing Group's (CSRG) 3rd annual CSRG Charity Challenge. All proceeds from the event will benefit Speedway Children's Charities, the charitable arm of Infineon Raceway. Over the first two years of this charitable weekend, CSRG has generated more than $176,000. The event is being sponsored in part by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Fremont Bank and Philip Staley Vineyards.

ON-TRACK:

More than 260 vintage race cars will grace the road course over the weekend. Some of the cars entered include vintage NASCAR stock cars and fabulous Historic Grand Prix cars from the 3-liter era. There will also be more than 200 vintage and open-wheeled, production and sports-racing cars of the 1940s, 50s and 60s. The marques include Ferrari, Aston-Martin, Porsche, Shelby 350GT, Corvette, MG and Jaguar, to name just a few.

CIRCUIT:

12 turns, 2.52 miles.

SCHEDULE:

Saturday, Oct. 14: Gates open, 7 a.m.; Practice, 8:30 a.m.; Feature Races, 1 p.m. There will be seven feature races, each spanning 30 minutes.

Sunday, Oct. 15: Gates open, 7 a.m.; Practice, 8:30 a.m.; Feature Races: 1 p.m. There will be eight feature races, each spanning 30 minutes.

IN ADDITION:

Kart Challenge:

A new activity this year is the Kart Challenge. For a $50 donation, you can take a three-lap sprint around a temporary course in the paddock in a racing kart. The Kart Challenge will take place on both Saturday and Sunday (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) and prizes will be awarded to top individuals and teams.

Charity Ride-Arounds:

For a $75 donation to the charity, competitors racing at Infineon Raceway during the weekend will take a passenger on a three-lap ride around the world famous road course in a McLaren, NASCAR T-Bird, Jaguar or other vintage car provided for the purpose. All passengers must wear close-toed shoes, long pants, long-sleeve shirts and a helmet, which can be provided. You must be 16 years or older to participate in the ride-around. The Charity Ride-Arounds will begin at 11:20 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and are run on a first-come basis, so plan to arrive early.

ABOUT SPEEDWAY CHILDREN'S CHARITIES:

The Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities distributes money to qualified youth groups in Sonoma County. The chapter has given out more than $1.2 million over the last three years and had a positive impact on more than 100 youth organizations in Sonoma County. There are eight chapters of Speedway Children's Charities nationwide.

ADMISSION: $20 each for Saturday and Sunday (adult); $10 each for Saturday and Sunday (youth); children 12-and-under, FREE. Parking is FREE.
