AAIA Launches Vote for Business Web Site
BETHESDA, MD - Oct. 3, 2006 - Because the outcome of the 2006 elections will have a profound impact on aftermarket businesses, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) has teamed up with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to offer AAIA's members and their employees a valuable online tool to learn about candidates and to expedite voter registration.
The site features critical background and voting information on candidates located in all voting districts across the nation. In addition, the site provides important information on when, where and how to vote, as well as the ability to register to vote and request an absentee ballot.
"AAIA's government affairs program works to effectively represent the industry's interest in Washington, but one of the most effective tools we have to impact legislation and regulation is to vote," said Kathleen Schmatz, AAIA president and CEO. "With control of Congress at stake, it is critical this year that we motivate the millions of aftermarket employees to get to the polls and elect legislators that share our interest in a competitive vehicle repair market."
Companies are urged to link the AAIA "Vote for Business" site to their company's Web site and to promote it to their employees. To access the site, click on the "Vote for Business" link located at the top of AAIA's Web site, www.aftermarket.org, or visit the site directly at www.voteforbusiness.com/portal/aaia. If you have any questions about the site or need further instructions, contact Ryan Carroll at 240-333-1036 or e-mail ryan.carroll@aftermarket.org.
