SMITH EYES NORTHEAST FOCUS TITLE AT SEEKONK

 

 

            Barring any unforeseeable circumstances, Ryan Smith of Kunkletown, Pa. will claim the USAC Northeast Ford Focus Midget Car Series title this weekend.

 

            A two-day, one race show at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, and Smith is ahead of Jeff Abold by 59 points. Starting the feature will essentially clinch the title for Smith, who also leads the Florida Ford Focus Midget Car Series standings.

 

            While Smith holds the edge in points, Abold has a hold on Seekonk. The Oswego, N.Y. native owns victories in two of the three races held there in 2006, and finished fourth in the other.
