Race Date: September 29-October 1, 2006

 

READING, Penn. (October 2, 2006) - Cruz Pedregon and his Advance Auto Parts
Race Team showed up at the NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading,
Penn., ready to rumble in the Nitro Funny Car division, but suffered a tough
first-round red light. Pedregon is in 10th place in the 2006 point standings
after the Advance Auto Parts team's Reading appearance.

 

"We got three qualifying runs instead of four (due to rain), and our Advance
Auto Parts Team really needed that fourth run to better our position,"
explained Pedregon. "We were trying really hard, and I thought we gave it a
good run in that first round - I didn't know we red lighted until we got to
the finish line. We did the best we could, but just got caught. Our guys
worked hard and our strategy here was good. We just have to qualify better
and then we can go into the race with a little more confidence. We looked at
some things after the race and will change our strategy. We are paying
attention to what our car likes and what it doesn't because we're not only
racing for wins in 2006, but to set our team up for next year. We look
forward to starting all over again in Richmond."

Petersburg, Va. (near Richmond)
