NHRA Nationals, Maple Grove Raceway, Reading, Penn. 

Race Date: September 29-October 1, 2006

 

READING, Penn. (October 2, 2006) - Tony Pedregon and his Q TorquePower Race
Team made it to the second round before falling out of competition at Maple
Grove Raceway in Reading, Penn. in the Nitro Funny Car division during the
NHRA Nationals this past weekend. Pedregon once again qualified in the top
half of the field in Reading, in 6th, allowing him to continue to retain
fourth place in the 2006 point standings. 

 

"We were pleased with our first round run, although our expectations were to
run quicker in the second round, as we had the setup for it," Pedregon
explained of his race day in Reading. "But there was a little glitch. We are
going to look at the data - it could be the fuel system or maybe something
in the electronics. When everything clicks with this team, we're capable of
winning. We'll put this in the books and look forward to taking what we have
learned to Richmond. We'll try to maintain our top-half qualifying effort,
but we'll just have to work a little harder at racing more consistently.
Once we evaluate all of the data and locate this problem, we'll address it
and try to put the Q TorquePower team in the winner's circle again."
