Michael Faulk Pumped About Talladega
Michael Faulk Pumped About Talladega
TALLADEGA, Ala (Monday, October 2, 2006) - - Making his first appearance
since competing in the second ARCA RE/MAX Series race of the season at
Nashville Superspeedway, Michael Faulk returns to competition for Friday’s Food World
250 at Talladega Superspeedway.
Faulk, who impressed many while competing in the USAR Hooter Pro Cup Series
in 2005 is looking to turn some heads in the final superspeedway event of the
season behind the wheel of the No. 14 COBS Homes-Cal Bay International Dodge
Charger.
“We’re really excited about Talladega,?? said Faulk, who resides in
Gainesville, Florida. “It’s been a while since I’ve competed in an ARCA race, but we
’re coming to Talladega prepared to win and I think we have something for
the other competitors. We’ve worked really hard the past couple weeks and we’
re hoping that effort pays off in a big way on Friday.??
Faulk, was one of more than 30 RE/MAX Series teams who tested at the
2.666-mile Superspeedway last week in preparation for the second restrictor plate
race of the season.
Unofficially, Faulk turned the 21st fastest effort with a time of 51.630
seconds at 185.374 mph. “The test went good,?? said the 23-year old driver. “
The speeds we ran really didn’t show what we are capable of. We found a lot
of speed back at the shop after the test. We were credited with 21st but you
also never know what the honest numbers are at an open test like that. I
have a feeling we’re going to unload much stronger this week.??
Faulk and his MB3 Motorsports team have entered into an alliance with
Evernham Motorsports for the Food World 250. Faulk will pilot the same Dodge
Charger that NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Rookie and Evernham Motorsports
Developmental Driver Erin Crocker ran in the season opener at Daytona International
Speedway. After qualifying tenth, Crocker crossed the line 15th.
“Anything that comes from Evernham Motorsports is top of the line and I’m
looking forward to running well in this equipment this week,?? continued Faulk.
“Erin has entered the race as well, so we’re looking to put Evernham
Motorsports first and second on Friday.??
COBS Homes will adorn the primary sponsorship role on the No. 14 Dodge
Charger this week. Complete Owner-Builder Services (COBS) was founded to help
people through the process of building their own homes. COBS Homes has developed
an A B C program to help with finance, real estate, and construction
decisions. COBS provides services to help you with construction loans, home plans,
building lots, building materials, construction budgeting, and the entire proces
s of building a home. The COBS Homes Program is a partnership built on
respect, honesty, and our guiding principle that the customer is the most
important part of our business.
Cal-Bay International will share the sponsorship role with COBS Homes this
weekend. Cal-Bay International is a publicly traded real estate development
and Investment Company traded on the OTCBB.com. Headquartered in Carlsbad,
California, Cal-Bay International acquires, develops, and manages a diversified
portfolio of real estate companies. Cal-Bay International is wholly-owned
subsidiary of COBS Homes.
“I have some great sponsors on board for my Talladega debut,?? added Faulk,
a former competitor in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division. “To represent
COBS Homes and Cal-Bay International is a great opportunity for me and I’m
looking forward to putting our car upfront and give my sponsors some great
recognition.??
Corrie Stott, will call the shots for Faulk at Talladega. Stott has over 20
years of experience in Motorsports and has experience as a shop foreman and
crew chief for multiple NASCAR Nextel Cup teams over the years. “Corrie has
been in victory lane at Daytona and Talladega so I’m really excited to have him
on board with the team,?? said the rookie driver. “We get along great and
have really become great friends in the last couple months.??
While Faulk knows he has the chance of landing in victory lane, he is
keeping his goals realistic. “My goal for the race is to come out of Talladega on
all four wheels and in the top-five. I really believe we have a car capable of
winning the race, but as we all know, restrictor plate racing is all about
the buddy system and with that big yellow strip on the back of my rear bumper,
I might have trouble getting the help when I need it, but we’ll do the best
we can.??
Following Talladega, Faulk and his team will regroup in preparation for a
busy 2007 racing season. The group plans to run between 12 and 15 ARCA RE/MAX
Series events next season in addition to several NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series and Busch Series races in between. The team will kick off their racing
season by competing in the ARCA race at Daytona International Speedway next
February.
Rolling into the Alabama based track, Faulk, a third generation driver has
one ARCA start to his resume with a career best finish of ninth at Nashville
Superspeedway (April 2006). He holds a career best superspeedway time trials
effort of 17th also at Nashville Superspeedway (April 2006).
The Food World 250 (94 laps/250 miles) is the 22nd of 23 events on the 2006
ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Thursday, October 5th with a two
hour thirty five minute (9:00am-11:35am EST) session planned. Pork Pole
qualifying is set for that afternoon (3:30pm EST). The teams will receive a
Happy Hour practice with limited adjustments on Friday, October 6th with the race
set to take the green flag on later at 4:30pm. The race will be televised on
SPEED on a same day tape-delay basis with airtime set for 8:00pm. Visit
