Canadian Sean McIntosh ninth in Le Mans debut (W)

McIntosh ninth in Le Mans debut

Round 8 - World Series by Renault, Le Mans, France, 30th September 2006

Sean McIntosh, #6 Team KTR, Race 1 - Qualified: 10th / Finished: 9th (2 Points)

Sean McIntosh collected two more valuable World Series by Renault
points today as he came home ninth in his debut on the Bugatti
Circuit at Le Mans in France in the first of Round 8's double-header
races, with Race 2 following tomorrow. Heading into the weekend, the
penultimate meeting in the nine round 2006 World Series by Renault
schedule, the 21-year-old Canadian sat sixth overall in the Driver
Standings with the rookie racer keen to break into the top-five to
round out the season, set to conclude in Barcelona next month.

Race 1, Qualifying (Pole - Alx Danielsson, 1m25.559s)

Following a day to forget in Friday practice, McIntosh was at least
thankful of a dry track today in qualifying. Turning laps in what he
described as a 'neutral' car, McIntosh was put to the test running on
new tires for the first time at the track. Not knowing what to
expect from such conditions, having battled the elements the previous
day, Sean's best lap time, a 1m26.170s, placed him fifth fastest in
his 15-group setting him up for a tenth grid slot for this
afternoon's 20-lap race.

Race 1, 20 Laps (Winner - Alx Danielsson, Comtec Racing)

With some light rain greeting the 30-car field as they took to the
grid, slippery conditions underneath made for an eventful opening lap
with the gravel trap at the first turn proving to be a busy place.
McIntosh successfully avoided the mayhem and in particular the
spinning car of Steven Kane but succumbed to Alvaro Parente for
position. He climbed back into the top-10 when Fukuda spun ahead of
him with Parente ahead as the next goal. Having followed the
Portuguese driver through to the final lap, McIntosh, piloting the #6
KTR entry, passed him for ninth on the exit from Turn 7 to score two
more points at the checkered.

Sean McIntosh - #6 Team KTR:
"I'm disappointed that we've not been able to carry the level of
performance in the car from Donington into this race. I wasn't
really able to attack here today but we still scored points and I
know we're capable of more so hopefully we can work on things for
tomorrow's race!"

Race 2 (27 Laps), including a mandatory pit-stop, starts tomorrow at
1pm local time (CET).
